Frank Lampard has agreed a deal with Inter, but Chelsea could attempt to force him into sitting out the remaining 12 months of his contract.
It has been widely reported that the England midfielder is in Italy on holiday in Positano and is taking the opportunity to undergo a medical and put pen to paper on a four-year contract worth £5.8m per season.
The Nerazzurri are only offering £7.8m to Chelsea, as he has just 12 months left to run on his current contract.
However, sources from within Stamford Bridge suggest the club will not let go of Lampard without a fight.
According to the latest reports, if he does not accept a new wage deal, then Chelsea are willing to hold the midfielder to his contract until July 2009.
