Mancio at Chelsea crossroads

Roberto Mancini’s future at Inter depends on the Scudetto, but even victory could see him leave to take charge of Chelsea.
A win at the Tardini on Sunday will guarantee the Nerazzurri a third straight Serie A title, but the fact they have lost an 11-point lead since February and suffered an early exit from the Champions League leave Mancio on shaky ground.
According to this morning’s Gazzetta dello Sport, there are three options open to the Coach after this weekend.
He could win the title and stay at Inter, emerge victorious and quit to take over at Chelsea or lose the Scudetto and face the sack.
The Italian newspaper insists that even if Avram Grant manages to lift the Champions League trophy for the first time in Chelsea’s history next Wednesday, he will not remain on the Stamford Bridge bench.
The Gazzetta suggests one of the main reasons Roman Abramovich wants to bring in 43-year-old Mancini is his ‘look.’
Mancio’s innate confidence is thought to be the right ‘winning image’ for a club like Chelsea and he has already shown he is accustomed to dealing with a team packed with stars.
It would not be his first experience in England, as Mancini had a brief stint as a player at Leicester City before hanging up his boots for good.
It would also be ironic, as the favourite to replace Mancini at Inter is former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho.作者: frankdbb 时间: 2008-5-17 20:35:11 标题: 回复 1# 的帖子
