His debut for Panionios included two assists, as Ewald Lienen’s side ran out 2-1 one winners over Aris at the Nea Smyrni and in only his second Greek Super League match, Alvaro Recoba inspired the Kyanerythri to a stunning 5-2 victory over high-flying Ergotelis with a classy double. However, after starring in Crete, the Uruguay star played down his individual performance and focused his entire team’s efforts.
Speaking to Greek newspaper Exedra, the former Inter Milan spoke about his weekend exploits in the context of his team’s performance.
“I’m really happy, not just because of my first goal but because the team won at a difficult ground and played good football.” Recoba said.
“I knew that our opposition were undefeated, which makes our victory even more significant.”
我真的很高兴,不仅因为我的第一个进球,而是球队赢得了一场硬仗,踢出了精彩的比赛
我知道对手此前不败,这使得这场胜利更有意义!
Recoba arrived as a late summer transfer along with international teammate Fabian Estoyanoff, who also had a starring role on Sunday, producing no less than four assists for his side.
Lampros Choutos, a former teammate of Recoba’s at Inter Milan, also grabbed himself a double, with the trio of players showing a particular understanding on the pitch.
乔托斯,雷少的前国际米兰队友,在周日的也大放异彩,两次把握机会破门得分。
“It is true that I know the games of those two players – that helped me a lot.” Recoba said.
“However, there are eleven players in a team and we must all fight for success.”
