The Romanian limped off during yesterday's last minute 3-2 victory away to Reggina and there were fears that he had sprained his left knee with a strain to the ligament, requiring a three-week recovery.
Unfortunately the reality is that his injury is a great deal more serious, as the official club website announced that tests performed at the San Matteo clinic in Pavia discovered “a lesion of the interior collateral ligament in the left knee.”
The medical staff have decided not to make the player undergo an operation for the injury, and instead they are attempting to cure the problem with non-surgical therapies.
It is unclear how long the defender will be out for, but it is likely to be at least a month and most probably more. Inter's defensive woes continue.
