The Los Angeles Galaxy on Tuesday denied reports that they will be offering a tryout to former Italian national-team striker Christian Vieri.
Vieri and Serie A club Atalanta recently agreed to mutually rescind the player's contract after he found the going tough in Bergamo. The 35-year-old had not been able to find much playing time and was jeered by fans during a recent exhibition match.
Earlier on Tuesday, reports out of Italy suggested Vieri had flown to Los Angeles for a trial with the Galaxy. However, according to the club, those stories have emerged are false.
周二,意大利报道维埃里飞往洛杉矶试训银河队。
"No. It's not true," was the brief statement by club officials on Tuesday.
俱乐部官网澄清:这是假的。
The former Inter Milan player's career has dipped incredibly since he left the Nerazzurri in 2005. He was unable to make an impact at AC Milan, Monaco, Fiorentina and two spells with Atalanta since that time.
However, the veteran is still considered one of most prolific Italian strikers of all-time, scoring 23 goals in 49 appearances for the national team.
