The Bianconeri's priority is a striker. Lots of avenues open: Liverpool are prepared to sell but not on the cheap. Good terms with Siena for Destro but Inter stand in the way. Negotiations with Udinese at advanced stage for midfielder.

Juve have set the wheels in motion on their big summer transfer deals, their priority being to sign a top-class striker. And although the Bianconeri are only at the enquiry stage, their transfer-market men are already very busy. Yesterday sporting director Fabio Paratici flew to Barcelona with Pavel Nedved and FIFA agent Giovanni Branachini, the Italian representative for Liverpool's Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez. The flying visit to Catalonia also involved the hotshot's own agent Pere Guardiola (Pep's brother). The meeting established the player's interest in a move to Turin but the stumbling block will be the price tag. The English club value him at  30 million while Juve are starting at 20 million. Negotiations are yet to begin. That is partly because Juventus still retain a keen interest in Van Persie, Cavani and Higuain (out of favour at Real Madrid). El Pepita, a luxury back-up striker at Real, is considered not for sale by his club: they are demanding the full value of his 150 million release clause. Marotta will bide his time and only move at the right moment.

MANOEUVRES FOR DESTRO — A more decisive step has been taken towards Siena's Mattia Destro. After the meeting between Inter and Genoa president Enrico Preziosi, Juventus replied blow for blow by buttering up Siena, who own the other half of the youngster's contract. The Tuscan club's president Mezzaroma is keen on Marrone and values his half at 5 million. Meanwhile, Juventus are looking to do business with Genoa for Immobile, who could be the very man to replace Destro. Sparks are already starting to fly.

ASAMOAH CLOSER — Juventus are also set to pounce for Kwadwo Asamoah: negotiations with Udinese could kick off on Monday. Udinese president Pozzo is holding out for his valuation of the midfielder, 15 million, and has already rejected a 12 million bid from Man United. That's the same amount Juve are prepared to lay on the table. But the Italian champions are gearing up for a counter-attack that includes Pazienza and co-ownership of Luca Marrone in the offer. Juventus are on the verge of announcing the arrival of Paul Pogba, the midfield prodigy snatched on a free from Manchester United. Also arriving soon will be Marco Verratti, Pescara's 19-year-old playmaker who has just received his first call-up to the Italy squad by Cesare Prandelli. In the meantime, Juve are also looking to secure a deal for Lens' 18-year-old midfielder Geoffroy Kongdogbia, whose contract expires in 2013.
