Internazionale president Massimo Moratti claims Jose Mourinho has to get rid of some players before he can sign Wesley Sneijder.
The Serie A champions have been heavily linked with a move for the Holland international, who is deemed surplus to requirements at the Bernabeu following the arrival of the likes of Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Inter have already spent heavily this summer, bringing in Thiago Motta, Diego Milito and concluding a mega swap deal for Samuel Eto'o which saw Zlatan Ibrahimovic join Barcelona.

Moratti admits that Nerazzuri boss Mourinho has requested an attacking midfielder with Sneijder the obvious choice, but the San Siro chief says while they have been in talks with the 25-year-old any deal for him is far from being concluded.

"The coach [Jose Mourinho] highlighted the need for an attacking playmaker to help Eto'o and Milito," Morratti told La Gazzetta Dello Sport.

"We will see how to resolve the question. As for Sneijder, we are not close, but not far either. There is nothing for sure. Maybe the transfer won't take off because we still have to get rid of some players."
