The competition’s leading scorer Albert Gilardino however, has been suspended from the match, due to the suspension he picked up against Palermo on the weekend.

Gilardino scored a goal with his hand from close range in his side’s 3-1 win, and has been suspended as a result. The club has decided to appeal the decision, and they face a battle against time to get their star man off.

Inter President Massimo Moratti believes that La Viola will be successful in their quest to overcome the suspension, as he has publically stated that, “Gilardino will be there Wednesday night.”

“I am convinced that Gilardino will not miss the Fiorentina-Inter match, as the disciplinary commission will reconsider their decision,” believed Moratti.

“They will come to realize that suspending the player is not the right decision. In a situation like this, the officials should have just cancelled the goal, and so it is not the player’s fault,” he added.

As previously mentioned, the Nerazzurri do battle with Fiorentina tomorrow night, before traveling to Calabria to face bottom side Reggina on the weekend.
