Didier Drogba has refused to comment on reports suggesting he met with Inter Milan officials.

Jose Mourinho is understood to be interested in signing the Ivory Coast international, having previously worked with him at Chelsea.

Allegations have surfaced claiming Drogba and his agent recently met Inter's sporting director Marco Branca and Mourinho's representative for talks.

Mourinho insisted on Tuesday that he knew nothing about the discussions, although Blues boss Luis Felipe Scolari admitted he could not rule out the possibility that Drogba had met with Inter officials.

Drogba's future has been the subject of speculation for some time but the player himself is staying focused on Chelsea.

The striker, currently serving a three-match domestic suspension for throwing a coin back into the crowd against Burnley, is under contract at Stamford Bridge for two more years.

"I don't have anything to say," Drogba told skysports.com.

"I am upset about the reaction on my comeback game, I made an error.

"I have always said I have a contract with Chelsea until 2010, no comment about the supposed meeting."

Chelsea boss Luiz Felipe Scolari was bristling last night over reports that Didier Drogba had held talks with Inter Milan.

The future of striker Drogba has overshadowed Chelsea's preparations for their crucial Champions League clash against Bordeaux.

Chelsea were refusing to become embroiled in yet more controversy over their Ivory Coast striker after it was alleged that Inter Milan's sporting director Marco Branca had met Drogba in a Fulham restaurant on Monday night.

Reports also suggested that Inter coach and former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho's agent, Jorge Mendes, and the player's representative were also present at the dinner meeting.

Although Mourinho later claimed to know nothing about the alleged meeting, Chelsea coach Luiz Felipe Scolari was clearly on edge when asked if Drogba had met Branca.

Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti has confirmed the club will not heavily pursue Chelsea striker Didier Drogba.

Reports suggest the Nerazzurri had met with Drogba this week but Moratti has insisted the club are not moving mountains to obtain the services of the Ivorian.

“I didn't even know about [Marco] Branca's trip to London and I too will endeavour to have it explained to me what it was all about,” Moratti told Sky Italia.

“I think that it is the player who wants to join us more than anything. We do not need strikers and in fact have a few too many, all of them very strong.

“Besides, Mourinho has never asked me for any new signings.”

Recent reports suggest that Inter Milan have rekindled their interest Dider Drogba, the Chelsea striker who was heavily linked with both San Siro clubs during the summer.

Jose Mourinho, the Nerazzurri coach, has shown that he likes to recruit players he has worked with in the past. He signed the likes of Ricardo Carvalho and Paulo Ferreira from Porto after taking charge at Stamford Bridge, he has tried to lure Frank Lampard and Deco to Italy.

Some might find it strange that the Portuguese boss prefers to stick with familiar figures rather than branch out in search of new exciting talents. However, Fulham manager Roy Hodgson appreciates the 45-year-old's approach, particularly where Drogba is concerned.

The former Inter boss told The Sun: “Jose Mourinho knows him and his qualities very well.

“Sometimes as a manager when you are assessing players you see only what you see from the stands but if you have worked with a player you know exactly what you are getting.

“We all know Didier Drogba’s qualities.”
