The rangy 21-year-old has played an important part in that sense, averaging the most tackles per game of any centre-half in the league (2.9), and showing the composure to play out from the back when appropriate.

45. Valentin Rosier (Dijon / 21 / D(R/L)) - WhoScored.com rating 6.98*

Emerging as a first choice starter in the Dijon backline this season, Rosier’s ability to play at either right or left-back certainly plays into his favour. The youngster ranks fifth in Ligue 1 for interceptions per 90 minutes this season (2.9) of those to feature ten times this season, whilst also weighing in with 2.8 tackles per 90. He’s carried a threat going forwards too, with a 79.3% dribbles success rate ranking among the top ten players in the league to have completed at least 20 thus far.

The 21-year-old has notched eight league goals in 15 appearances this season, which is by no means a poor return but his conversion rate has dropped from 28.4% last season to a modest 19% this time around and he’ll be hoping for an improvement when the Bundesliga returns from it’s winter break this weekend.

Chipping in with four assists and winning an impressive 5.3 aerial duels per game this season - the fourth most in the league - the 20-year-old will be in Gareth Southgate’s thoughts.

The youngster leads to newcomers to Spain’s top tier in tackles per game (2.8) and has supported their attacks well from wide.

Having started all but one league game this season, Nunez leads the team for interceptions (2.3 per game) and has completed a lofty 6.1 long balls per game to boot.

If Cologne fail to turn their season around in the ruckrunde then Ozcan will have plenty of offers to remain a top-flight player.
