【Inter captain Javier Zanetti believes his 35th Milan derby “will be a decisive moment” in the Scudetto race.

The two San Siro rivals go head-to-head on Sunday night and El Tractor has played in 34 of these meetings so far between Serie A and cup competitions.

“It is a crucial match and one that means a lot to all concerned,” he told Mediaset. “I do not keep count of the derbies I have played in, but wait for this appointment in a relaxed manner because we all believe in the work we are doing.

“We hope to reach this game in top form and win it, because that will be a decisive moment in the title race.”

The Nerazzurri are currently seven points out in front at the top of the Serie A table and eight clear of Milan.

The Rossoneri won this fixture earlier in the season thanks to a Ronaldinho header and that remains one of only two League defeats suffered by Jose Mourinho’s men.

Kaka is unlikely to recover in time for Sunday night’s clash, but Zanetti will believe it when he sees it.

“In any given moment he can change the course of a game. He is a champion.”

Another veteran of the derby scene is Clarence Seedorf, who has played on both sides of the San Siro, but he is under fire from the fans after poor recent performances.

“He was my teammate and I really don’t know why they are criticising him,” mused the Inter star.
